Not to be confused with zirconia, zircon is spectacularly scintillating because of the way it interacts with light. Zircon is found in many colors, most commonly seen in a bright blue. Gemologists are studying zircon inclusions in million-year-old diamonds to learn more about the depths of the earth. Zircon is one of the birthstones for December.
